Delly’s Deals Weekly Radio Show Notes

Today on the Delly’s Deals Radio show our main topic was “Is Couponing Unhealthy?” Callers shared their opinions on the matter and the general consensus was that each person has the power to make the right choices and not buy items that are unhealthy even if they are on sale or a great deal. I find many great deals on healthy items, too, so the coupons and deals are out there! For example, milk, all natural eggs, nuts, and tofu are some of the items I have gotten for next to nothing with my coupons.

One caller shared how he likes to donate things that he gets at a great price, even if it’s not an item that he personally likes.

Also, keep in mind that even if you choose not to coupon for food, there are still many non-food items that you could get at great prices, such as personal care items, cleaning products, toilet paper, paper towels, makeup, etc!

This week on the Delly’s Deals Radio Show, I shared my weekly deals and we are talking about budgeting.

I totally blew my weekly budget last week because there were so many deals! But I’m still under my monthly budget, so that’s okay. My budget is $75 per person per month, so since I have five people in my family, that’s a budget of $375 per month. for me (honestly, I round it up to $400). Budgets can change, according to life changes (for instance, I had two in diapers last year, so my budget was a bit higher). If your kids are growing and eating more, you may need to adjust your budget a bit. What’s important is that you choose one that fits your family’s needs and stick to it, using cash if possible.

Don’t miss out on Food Lion’s Private Label Sale. You get $.25 off four every Food Lion brand item you buy, minimum of four. This could really add up, especially if you focus on the cheaper private label items like biscuits, cat food, single bottled waters, etc. I have heard that the cat food is $.10 per can after the private label discount.

Weekly Grocery Store Deals!

It’s Wednesday and that means one thing around here- new grocery store sales! Click on your preferred grocery store below for a list of the deals at each store. You can click the boxes to make your own printable grocery store shopping list!

Keep in mind that I also look at the store flyer each week. There’s nothing like seeing those deals on paper and you may find a deal that isn’t mentioned below.

There are several promos going on this week worth mentioning. Harris Teeter is doing a Lysol sale (use the matching coupons from recent newspapers), and a General Mills/Betty Crocker/Box Tops Promo where you can get 50 bonus boxtops when you buy 8 select General Mills items. Since I have a little one in school and matching coupons, I will definitely be taking advantage of that promo. Finally, they have a Johnson and Johnson sale going on too, and I know there were matching coupons for those sales in last week’s newspaper.

Food Lion is doing their private label sale where you get a quarter off for every purchase of a Food Lion My Essentials brand product, minmum of four (save $1) and maximum of 40 (save $10). You can get cat food and biscuits pretty cheap doing this, but this is a good time to get any private label items that you might use from there. I like the strawberries for $2.50, too and the BOGO on Froot Loops and Corn Pops, for which there are available coupons, too.

Finally, I didn’t see anything too crazy at Lowes Foods but I do like how I can use the three-week coupons there from the past week. They last through January 24th. Also, their strawberries are on sale 2 for $5 and Lowes Foods brand veggies are $.48 each, limit 6. Drumsticks and thighs are on sale for $.97 a pound and that is a good price.
