Food Lion has a great price on Spiral ham this week- $1.47/lb. It is higher at every other grocery store, except Lowes Foods, where it’s also $1.47/lb. Also, they are still running that special gift card promo where you can earn free Food Lion grocery money when you buy Applebees, Regal Cinema or Bass Pro Shop gift certificates.
In case you haven’t heard, I posted yesterday on the Delly’s Deals Facebook Page, that this week is the FINAL week of everyday triple coupons at the Harris Teeter in Leland, NC.
We have enjoyed triple coupons everyday for over a year in Leland. It was a special promotion that started a “coupon war” between the Harris Teeter and Lowes Foods in Leland, NC.
Triple coupons will continue this week at both stores and the final day for triple coupons at the Leland Harris Teeter is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22nd.
I spoke with a manager at Lowes Foods in Leland and was told that triple coupons will continue on a week-to-week basis and that the LF Corporate office would determine whether or not to continue.
Don’t be too down about triple coupons ending! Remember, all Harris Teeter and Lowes Foods stores still offer double coupons everyday! Combine this with their amazing promotions and weekly specials and you’ll still save a ton.
Plan to stock up this final week of triple coupons? Click below to see deal lists to both stores, and I will continue to add to these lists all week!

Monday-Friday I post an exclusive daily deal at Port City Daily. Some of this week’s recent deals featured:
Each week Savingstar puts out a healthy offer on Tuesday. I LOVE Savingstar! It’s so easy- simply click the offers you want and they load to your store cards. When you buy the itme, remember, the money does not come off your bill but is saved in your Savingstar account. Then, when you have at least $5, you can transfer it to Paypal, Amazon, Bank Account or charity. I like to let mine sit until Christmas and then I use the money for gifts.
This week’s healthy offer is:
Save 20% on any single purchase of loose Russet Potatoes at participating retailers. See offer info for complete details.
*Loose Russet Potatoes will be $.79/lb starting tomorrow (April 16th) at Lowes Foods!
Click the offer to load it up and you have through next Monday night, April 21st at 8:59 p.m. to purchase the item to receive this week’s credit.
*Savingstar works at most major stores except Walgreens and Walmart.
I LOVE $2.99 Tuesdays at the Fresh Market! They did it in March and have brought the special back for April.Drop in EVERY Tuesday in April and pay just $2.99 for each of the following:
- 1 lb of Fresh ground chuck, freshly ground in store each day
- 1 lb of Vegetarian Diet, Antibiotic Free, Boneless chicken breast
- 1 gallon of RSBT Hormone free milk
- One pineapple, conventional, whole or cored
- 4 inch potted hyacinths, daffodils or tulips
This is such a great value on all of the items but especially the milk! As I mentioned before, milk prices have gone up nationwide. Milk is $4.08 per gallon at Walmart!
Some stores like the Fresh Market, have chosen to eat the increase of price in milk and offers specials to help customers save. To reward this, I certainly recommend checking out their sales flyer and perhaps buying a few other items while you are in the store.
$2.99 Tuesday will happen each Tuesday in April of 2014 at select Fresh Market locations, including the one in Wilmington, NC in Mayfaire, off of Military Cutoff Road.
If you like Philadelphia Cream Cheese, print this hot $.75/1 coupon now! It is especially valuable for those of us who shop at Harris Teeter and Lowes Foods since those two stores double coupons everyday and even better in Leland since they triple coupons everyday!
Click here to print $.75 off 1 Philadelphia Soft Cream Cheese!
Deal Idea for Harris Teeter:
Buy: 1 Philadelphia Soft Cream Cheese, 8 oz, on sale for $2.00 at Harris Teeter
Final Price: FREE in Leland, NC or just $.50 at all other HT stores!
Deal Idea for Lowes Foods:
Buy: 1 Philadelphia Soft Cream Cheese, 8 oz., on sale for $2.50 at Lowes Foods
Final Price: $.25 in Leland or just $1.00 at all other LF stores.
Clearly the Harris Teeter deal is better but both are excellent prices for spreadable cream cheese! This deal lasts through Tuesday night, April 15th. I am not sure if it will be extended through next week, so you may want to grab it today if possible. If nothing else, print and hold the coupon for the next sale!
This deal would go great with this $.50/1 Thomas products coupon! It makes Thomas Bagel Thins just $.44 (Leland) or $.94 at Harris Teeter through tonight!
Will you be dyeing eggs for Easter? Or do you eat lots of eggs?
Easter is always a great time to buy eggs because they tend to go on sale pretty cheap due to the ritual egg festivities. Check expiration dates and if they are long, be sure to stock up.
Who has the best price?
I noticed in the Walmart sales flyer yesterday (Sunday, April 13th) that eggs were advertised as $4.28 for 2 1/2 dozen (30 total) large Grade A eggs. Looks like a good enough deal- comes to 14 cents per egg.
But then, I saw the Walgreens ad where they have eggs for $.99 for 1 dozen. After some quick math, I realized that comes to 8.2 cents per egg.
So……Walgreens is the clear winner here! 30 eggs at Walgreens would run you $2.48 cents versus paying $4.28 for 30 eggs at Walmart. Big difference in my opinion, plus you don’t have to deal with Walmart (sorry folks…..not my favorite place to frequent).
Walmart will price match the Walgreens price on the same item (just in case Walgreens runs out or in case you happen to be in Walmart anyways). Their price match policy states that you do not have to show the cashier the Walgreens flyer to prove it, but I recommend bringing it if possible, just in case you run into a problem.
This is illustrative of a point I make over and over. Walmart rarely has the best price. USUALLY, sales at a grocery store are equal to or less than Walmart’s price. So if you always buy on sale at the grocery store, you’ll probably spend less than you would have at Walmart.
Examples from right now:
Fresh Pineapple, Whole is $2.50 at Walmart
Fresh Pineapple, Whole is $2.49 at Lowes Foods this week
Hellmann’s Mayonnaise 30 oz is $3.98 at Walmart
Hellmann’s Mayonnaise 30 oz is $2.85 at Lowes Foods this week (big difference!)
Birds Eye Steamfresh Sweet Corn is 10.8 oz. is $1.00 at Walmart
Birds Eye Steamfresh (all vegetables) 12 oz (bigger size) are $.82 at Harris Teeter
Edwards Key Lime Pie, 25.5. oz is $4.97 at Walmart
Edwards Key Lime Pie, 36 oz is $4.99 at Harris Teeter
*It’s two cents more at Harris Teeter but you get a much bigger pie.
Country Crock Side Items are $2.98 each at Walmart
Country Crock Side Items are $3.00 at Harris Teeter
*It’s two cents more at Harris Teeter BUT there is a $.55 coupon which HT will double or triple (Leland), making the final price there only $1.35 versus $2.43 at Walmart.
Also, grocery stores/drug stores tend to offer special promos such as:
- Double Your Coupons
- Triple Your Coupons
- Bonus Digital coupons
- Weekend Sales/Offers
- Gas Rewards
- Store bonus cash money (ex. Extrabucks at CVS, Register Rewards at Walgreens or +UP Rewards at Rite Aid)
It is not that you can never get a good deal at Walmart. However, overall, I have found that most people save more money buying their groceries at a grocery store instead of Walmart.
For our family, we used to spend $700+ a month shopping at Walmart. Now that we shop grocery and drug stores, our monthly budget is $400/month and we have plenty of groceries and spend less than ever!
If you are happy paying what you pay and shopping at Walmart, there is certainly no reason to change. However, if you are like we used to be and wondering why we are spending so much each week and looking for a better way, I encourage you to consider a new approach! Check out our weekly store deal lists at dellysdeals.com! Click below and choose your store for easy to follow lists of deals, available for you each Wednesday with the new grocery deals!
Check out these hot new coupons that popped up this morning. Print what you like now because I imagine some of them will not stick around long! Print two copies of each coupon per computer.
*TIP: If you click a link and cannot find a coupon, try entering zip code 77477 and that should pull up most of the coupons.

$.75 off 1 Wesson Cooking Oil (48 oz or larger)
*Wesson oil 48 oz is on sale at Harris Teeter through Tuesday night for $3.49. After coupon, final price is $1.24 in Leland or $1.99 at all other HT stores!
