Awesome Deals at CVS- paid $14.07 plus tax for $51.21 worth of products!

I MADE money buying some of these products today at CVS!

When things work out, shopping can be so much fun at CVS!

I wanted to share a trip that I did that you can also do, too, through Saturday night. I bought over $50 worth of products for only $14.07 out of pocket, plus taxes! Even better is that after I paid, I still got $4 back in Extrabucks to use on another order, so it’s like I paid $10.07 for all of those products!

This week, many of the coupons from the Raleigh Sunday paper matched sales going on at CVS in their flyer. This made for pretty easy deals.

I split my order into three transactions, so that I could use Extrabucks that I earned from the first two transactions to pay for everything else. The cashier was very nice and did not mind at all, especially since I told her I would be doing this and also let people behind me go before I did a second or third transaction.

This is what I did:

Transaction #1

I paid $12.07 plus tax for these facial products, and after I paid I got back $5 in Extrabucks to spend on a future order!

I bought:

1 Simple Facial Wash
1 Simple Facial Wipes
1 Simple Facial Exfoliator

I redeemed:
2 coupons, each for $1 off of a Simple Product. I got these out of the Raleigh paper. I only had two coupons; if I’d had another, I would have used it, too.

I also had a CVS coupon for $3 off my total order of personal care products or cosmetics. I had just gotten it from the CVS coupon center before I got in line, so it pays to go over and scan your CVS card when you go into the store!

My total came to $12.07 plus tax, but I got back $5 in Extrabucks because CVS was running a promo that said, “Buy $15 of Simple Products and get $5 in Extrabucks back.” Before my coupons came off, I had spent $15 worth, so that’s why I earned the $5 bonus Extrabucks. Great deal. On to the next transaction!

Transaction #2

I paid only $2.00 plus tax for all of these products!

I bought:

3 Suave Body Washes
12 Suave Lotions 18 oz
1 Irish Spring Mens Deoderant
1 Irish Spring Mens Body Wash

(CVS is running a promo where if you buy 2 Irish Spring products, you earn $4 in Extrabucks (super easy) and if you buy $12 of Suave products, you earn $4 in Extrabucks. My combination of 3 Suave body washes and 2 Suave Lotions added up to $12 before my coupons. You can do your own combo if you want.)

I redeemed:

2 coupons for the Irish Spring products, each for $.50 off, totaling $1.00 off
1 Buy one Get one Free coupon for the Suave Lotions, which took off $3.00
1 Buy 2 get one Free coupon for the Suave body washes, which took off $3.00
1 CVS coupon for $5 off my total purchase (this came from the Extracare center on a previous trip)
My $5 worth of Extrabucks that I had just earned from Transaction #1

My total came to: $2.00 plus tax for 4 body washes, 1 deoderant and 2 big bottles of lotion! Even better is that after I paid, I got back $8 in Extrabucks to spend on my next order! Counting the Extrabucks, I actually MADE $6! Without coupons or promos, the total would have been $24.27. On to the last transaction.

Transaction #3

I paid $0.00 for these Kleenex and still had $4 in Extrabucks to spend left over!

I was sick last weekend and really needed Kleenex. They were not on sale, but I bought three boxes and paid for them with $4 of my Extrabucks that were left over from Transaction #2.

3 boxes of Kleenex came to $3.87. I redeemed the $4 in Extrabucks and paid $0 for them! Actually, I had to pay the $.27 in tax, but that was from the state of NC, not CVS :)

After I was done, I still had $4 in Extrabucks left to spend on another trip. I will save them to use on another purchase.

I hope I explained well how I did this. CVS offers so many promos, some weeks they are so generous, as they were this week. Simply check out the flyer for promos on products that you would use, match your coupons to them, and then use your Extrabucks that you earned to pay for future transactions.

Let me know what kind of deals you find at CVS this week!

My Drug Store Deals this Week!

After seeing yesterday’s Sunday paper loaded with great coupons, I decided to head straight over to the drug stores to grab a few deals. You have until Saturday night if you’d also like to grab some of these. Remember to request a rain check if they are out of something!

Walgreens:
FREE Aquafresh Kids Toothpaste (no out of pocket except tax and filler item)

CVS:
$.99 Claritin for Kids
FREE Colgate Max Toothpaste (after Extrabucks)
$1.00 Right Guard Mens Deoderant (after Extrabucks)
$1.00 Right Guard Mens Bodywash (after Extrabucks)
$3.99 Lysol Heathly Touch Hand soap system (I actually paid only tax because I used Extrabucks from a previous transaction)

See below for details on how I did each transaction.

Walgreens:

FREE Aquafresh Kids Toothpaste

(use $1.00 off coupon from yesterday’s Sunday paper PLUS the $1.00 off coupon in the Walgreens savings booklet). If you buy one toothpaste but use both coupons, you will also need to buy a small, cheap little filler item, such as a caramel or something, since Walgreens’ registers will not accept more than one coupon per item.

CVS:

$.99 Claritin for Kids

Kids’ Claritin is on sale for $7.99 a bottle. There is a $7.00 off coupon from last Sunday’s newspaper (Raleigh only). After coupon I only paid $.99 which is an AWESOME deal!

FREE Colgate Max Toothpaste (after Extrabucks reward)

Colgate Toothpaste is $2.99 each. I used a $1.00 off coupon from last week’s paper so I only paid $1.99 plus tax. I then got back $2.00 in Extrabucks after I paid. You can do this twice and earn $4 in Extrabucks.

$1.00 Right Guard Mens Deoderant (after Extrabucks)
$1.00 Right Guard Mens Bodywash (after Extrabucks)

Both of these transactions work the same. You can choose any combo of Right Guard Deoderant or Bodywash. Each is on sale for $3.00 so I bought two and used a $2.00 off coupon from Sunday’s Raleigh newspaper. I paid $4.00 plus tax and then got back $2.00 in Extrabucks.

$3.99 Lysol Heathly Touch Hand soap system (I actually paid only tax because I used Extrabucks from a previous transaction)

It’s on sale for $6.99 and I had a $3 off coupon from last Sunday’s paper. After coupon I paid $3.99. If you want this you could do the above transactions and then use some of the Extrabucks that you earned above towards the Hand Soap System. This is what I did so it only cost me $.48 plus tax.

I’m sure there are other great deals this week at CVS and Walgreens; these are the ones I chose to take advantage of! What did you find at the drug stores this week?

$102 Worth of Groceries for less than $25!

I paid $24.93 for all of these groceries! All name brand, from Harris Teeter today, and the total without coupons was $102.98.

Tonight at 6:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. I will be on Fox News Wilmington filling in for Michelle Li and sharing my grocery deals for this week. I went shopping today and boy did I get some amazing deals! I was surprised to see how many great deals were out there, most items being under $1.00 after coupons came off.

Several of the coupons I used came from the Lowes Foods spring coupon booklet. If you have not gotten yours yet, YOU MUST! It’s only $1.00 but is LOADED with awesome manufacturer’s coupons. I cut out several of the coupons and used them on items that were on sale at Harris Teeter, which is perfectly fine to do. The Hellmann’s Mayonnaise, the Hungry Jack Pancake Mix and the Maruschan Noodles are just two examples of items that are available in the Lowes Foods booklet but are on sale at Harris Teeter. Since the coupons don’t expire until late May, I’m sure there will be many more opportunities to use the booklet.

This is the Lowes Foods Savings Booklet that is LOADED with coupons, many of which will double. The bonus is that they can be used at any store, since most of the coupons are manufacturer’s offers.

Below is a breakdown of the prices that I paid for each item that I purchased:

1 Box of Cheerios- $.50 after $.75 off 1 coupon printed online and $.50 off ZVR (digital) coupon

75% savings overall!!!

FREE Allegra at CVS Through Saturday Night!

Have you gotten your FREE Allegra?

For those who suffer with allergies (like myself, my husband, and my children), allergy season can be a killer. I don’t think we’d survive without our non-drowsy allergy medicines like Zyrtec and Allegra. Even better is the fact that we’ve gotten most of our allergy medicine for about 75%-100% off this allergy season by using the sales that the drug store chains offer on the medicines, combined with the coupons.

This week there is an EASY deal at CVS. In last Sunday’s paper, there was a $7.00 off coupon for Allegra. I found mine in the Raleigh News and Observer newspaper in the Smart Source insert. It was in the middle of the insert. I alerted everyone to this sale on Saturday in my Delly’s Deals Radio Show notes and reminded everyone to be sure to get the Sunday paper, as I knew this coupon was in it! It’s a seven day coupon so it will expire on Saturday.

The 5 count Allegra costs $6.99 at CVS, so after applying the $7.00 off coupon it was FREE! I had two coupons so I got two boxes. I was only responsible for paying the tax, which ended up being $.98 total. Not bad for a product that would have normally cost me 13.98.

By the way, I got mine at the CVS on Gordon Road and they were fully stocked. There were plenty. You have until Saturday night to take advantage so be sure to hop on over!

FREE Zyrtec Money-maker and Cheap Coke 12-packs at CVS!

*Update- the $2.00 off coupon that I reference below is now sold out, but you can still do the deal even without a coupon.

CVS does this every few months or so and with allergy season upon us I am so happy to see it!

This week, through Saturday night, you can get the 5-count Zyrtec for $5.99. Immediately upon paying, you receive $5.99 back in Extrabucks (attached to the end of your receipt). You can use these Extrabucks like CVS “play money” to purchase anything else in the store except lotto, alcohol, tobacco products or pharmacy drugs. Some people use them right away to buy items in a second transaction; others save the Extrabucks for the following week. They expire in about 2-3 weeks, so I personally like to use them sooner rather than later.

The great thing is that if you use a coupon on the Zyrtec (here’s one for $2.00 off a 5 count), you pay only $3.99 but still get the $5.99 in Extrabucks back. How cool is that?! It turns into a money-maker for you!

Zyrtec- $5.99
Minus $2.00 off coupon
Total- $3.99 plus tax
After paying you receive $5.99 back in Extrabucks
Final Result: You MADE $2.00 in this transaction!

Also worth noting at CVS this week is the 5 for $15 Coke 12 packs deal. Buy 5 Coke 12-packs for $15. After you pay you will receive $5.00 back in Extrabucks, thus making the price really 5 for $10. That’s already a great deal.

But what if you did the Zyrtec deal above and then immediately used the Extrabucks that you earned from the Zyrtec to pay for your Coke?

Buy 5 Coke product 12-packs for $15
Minus $5.99 in Extrabucks that you earned from the Zyrtec deal
Pay $9.01 plus tax
Get back $5.00 in Extrabucks

Final Result: You got 5 Coke 12-packs for $4.01!

I love doing CVS deals! With Easter coming up, this might be a good opportunity to volunteer to bring the soda at your family gathering this year!

FREE Thermacare Heat Wraps at CVS

I just wanted to make sure everyone noticed the free Thermacare heat wraps deal at CVS this week. It’s pretty easy- you buy one Thermacare heat wrap for $3.79 and immediately after paying get $3.79 back in ExtraBucks. You can then spend those ExtraBucks on something else in the store! I like to apply mine to something on sale that I have a coupon for and it’s a bonus if I can buy something that will earn me more Extrabucks.

I don’t like deals as much where I have to pay out of pocket first and then get reimbursed, but if you need something else in the store, it’s definitely worth it because you can get the next item for free.

Hopefully the wraps will all be in stock. Let me know how it turns out for you. You have until Saturday, March 3rd to get this deal!

A Not-to-Miss Money Maker at CVS!

I paid $2.97 plus tax for all of the above at CVS. After I paid, I got back $6 in Extrabucks to spend, PLUS I will submit a $5 Rebate from the 1/29 Sunday paper, so in the end I will come out MAKING $7.07 from purchasing those items! Total savings- $26.06!

I just had a ball doing a simple transaction at CVS where I came out making money by the time it was done! Not only that, but I will make $5 MORE if the rebate that I submit today comes through.

Here’s the deal:

CVS is running a promo where if you spend $12 on select items, you will receive $6 in Extrabucks after you pay. The qualifying items are found on page 4 of the CVS weekly sales flyer, but I will list them below for you:

Lady Speed Stick 2.3-3 oz.
Regular Speed Stick (Men) 2.3-3 oz
Colgate Total or Sensitive (5.8-6 oz)
Colgate 360 Toothbrush
Irish Spring or Softsoap Body Wash 15-18 oz
Irish Spring Bar Soap 3-4 pack
Softsoap Liquid or Foaming Hand Soap 8-8.5 oz

By the way, those are some large sizes! I bought the body washes and they are huge! The toothpaste is a big container, too. They are all on sale and had matching coupons, which makes the promo even more fun.

So, my strategy was to buy the cheapest items and apply the largest coupons. As long as your pre-coupon total is $12, you will still earn the $6 Extrabucks reward, even if you don’t end up paying $12 after all your discounts!

So I bought:

4 Speed Sticks (2 mens and 2 womens) for $1.99 each.
I used 2 B1G1 Free coupons from the 1/29 Raleigh Sunday paper, so two of the four ended up being free.

1 Colgate Sensitive Enamel Protection Toothpaste.
I used a $1.00 coupon from the Raleigh 1/21 Sunday paper.

1 Irish Spring Body Wash for Men.
I used a $1.00 off coupon from the Raleigh 1/29 Sunday paper.

1 Softsoap Body Wash (Pomegranate and Mango- it smells divine!)
I used a $.75 off coupon from the Raleigh 1/29 Sunday paper.

I also got lucky today. I walked into CVS and scanned my CVS Extrabucks Card at the card scanner. When I did, a $3 off my total purchase coupon printed out. Apparently, I earned this from my fall spending, so that made things even better.

After all the items rang up and the coupons plus $3 Extrabucks came off, I paid $3.93 out of pocket! This included $.96 in tax. After paying, a $6 Extrabucks reward printed off my receipt! I can redeem this in the future at Harris Teeter or at CVS.

Amazingly, it gets better……there is a black history month rebate in the Raleigh 1/29 Smart Source insert for Colgate-Palmolive Products. If you spend $10 on them, you can earn a $5 rebate by mail. I will submit it and hopefully it will go through without any problems. I’ll let you know the outcome of that and when I receive it.

This is what the rebate form looks like. You can find it in the Smart Source insert from the Raleigh 1/29 Newspaper. Deadline to buy and submit is March 15, 2012!

So, counting the Extrabucks I earned and the rebate, I came out having made over $7 on this transaction! Plus, I got some amazing products. I tell you what- there’s no excuse for anybody in my household to smell bad thanks to Colgate-Palmolive and CVS!

My Sweet CVS Deal on Medicine

There’s nothing worse than waking up sick and realizing you have no medicine in your cabinets! Not only do you feel bad but you’re going to go to the store (or send your hubby or wife) and pay whatever price you must to get some relief. This leads to overpaying since people often pay full price when they have to buy medicine immediately.

With cold season upon us, I recommend being proactive and buying medicine BEFORE you get sick and when they’re on sale! When I need medicines, I go to the drugstore chains to get the good deals. Often they are running sales and it’s easy to look through my binder for matching coupons. Also, you can use my coupon database to find coupons on specific medicines. For instance, tonight I wanted to price check Tylenol. So I went to my coupon database and typed “Tylenol” in the search bar. Sure enough, several printable coupons for Tylenol popped up and I printed two of them and put them in my binder. Now, it turns out that Tylenol wasn’t on sale, so I saved the coupons in my binder in the medicines section and I will wait until a sale on Tylenol pops up before I use them.

Tonight I went to CVS and what was on sale was Triaminic, which, like Tylenol, is an acetaminophen based pain reliever for children. I happened to have 2 coupons, each for $3 off,  in my binder for Triaminic. Since it was on sale AND I had a coupon, I knew I was in business! This is where it pays not to be brand loyal, as I wanted Tylenol but since it wasn’t on sale I went with a different name brand.

CVS was running a deal on Triaminic where it cost 2 for $12. With my two $3 off coupons, that would make it 2 for $6 ($3.00 a piece).

They then had an Extra Care Bucks deal where if I bought two Triaminics I would get a $3 Extra Care Bucks reward back. So, I bought two and paid $6 plus tax out of pocket. I then got back a coupon for $3 to spend inside of CVS on something else.

I decided to do a second transaction so I could use my $3 rewards coupon to pay for my next purchase. I  grabbed some Theraflu warming relief severe cold medicine for my husband and I. Although we are not currently sick, I like having it around for when we do get sick. It was regular price $6.49 but I had a $3 off manufacturer’s coupon from the Sunday paper a few weeks back. I also was able to use my $3 off extra care buck from the purchase of the Triaminic. That made my total $.49 for the Theraflu, which normally costs $6.49! What a great deal! I did have to pay $.45 tax, since the sales tax is configured on the original amount, not what I paid after coupons. Bummer.

So, in all I got 2 big 4 oz bottles of Triaminic children’s pain reliever AND 1 Theraflu Severe Cold Medicine for my husband and I all for a total of $6.49 plus tax! Note that one CVS brand acetaminophen costs almost that much, so I know I’m getting a good deal because I got three name brand medicines for that price.

Also, with the holidays and holiday travel coming up, I do suggest keeping medicines in a plastic bag (I put my children’s names on the bags, along with the dosage cups and syringes so they don’t get lost). This way, when you travel, you can easily throw the medicines in your suitcases. Don’t forget your medicines because it never fails that someone will get sick while you are out of town and sure enough you will head to the store and pay full price for medicines that are sitting at home in your cabinet!

If you want to get the deal I got on the Triaminic, it’s going on through Saturday night at CVS, so you have all week! If you don’t have the $3 off coupon, I did see a tearpad at Walgreens for $2 off of one Triaminic. It’s a manufacturer’s coupon so it can be used at any store, not just Walgreens.

Here’s to a healthy holiday for us all!

CVS Diaper Promotion

Every month or so, one of the drug stores will do a diaper promotion, where you get special pricing on diapers if you buy X amount. I usually take advantage of those weeks as an opportunity to stock up.

The biggest problem I run into during those promos is the store being out of the exact brand or size of diapers that I need for my baby. But, it’s usually wise to get what they have, as long as it works for the promo, and then return them for the proper size later, when the promo is over. If you wait until they have exactly the size you need to do the deal, you may miss out on it all together.

This week CVS has a pretty neat deal where you can choose from Luvs, Huggies or Pampers for the promo. If you buy 6 bags, you get the seventh free! After you purchase six bags, a coupon will print out for another free pack. I suggest redeeming the coupon right away if they allow it!

To make it even better, if you buy $25 worth, you get $10 in Extra Care Bucks back to use towards something else in the store. My strategy is to see which diapers I can find coupons for and see if the deal makes them worth getting.

I personally love Pampers; they smell great and rarely leak for me. Unfortunately, they are the most expensive. My next favorite is Luvs and then finally, I really don’t like Huggies. However, if the deal works out where Huggies are the best deal, I will use them and deal with it!

I worked up a scenario using each brand of diaper to determine the best deal:

Luvs: $7 each. Buy six for $42 and get a coupon for seventh bag free. After paying, you will get $10 back, making the diapers essentially $4.57 each pack. I couldn’t find any Luvs coupons; if you had some, you could apply them to the first total to bring down your cost.

Pampers: $9 each. Buy six packs for $54. Use 3 coupons from Proctor and Gamble insert for $1.50 off of two packs. $54-$4.50= $49.50 out of pocket for 7 bags of Pampers. Get $10 in Extra Care Bucks, making each pack of diapers cost on average $7.07 each. This is an okay deal, but nothing to get too excited about in my opinion.

Huggies: $9 each. Buy six packs for $54. Use six $3.00 off of one pack coupons. $54-$18=$36 out of pocket for 7 bags of Huggies. Get $10 in Extra Care Bucks, making each pack of diapers cost on average $3.71. Not bad. There are also some $1.50 off of one coupons out there, if you can’t find the $3.00 off of one, although I saw both coupons on sale on EBAY.

I do have a question regarding the Huggies- I wonder if they will allow me to use a coupon when redeeming my free diaper coupon? Often they will still allow you to use a coupon even on the free item. If that is the case and they allow it, the total per pack would be $3.28, which is a good deal. If you do try to use a coupon on the free Huggies, along with the free coupon they give you, be sure to buy a small filler item, like a $.25 piece of candy. You have to have the same amount of items as you do coupons, or the machine will not allow the transaction.

If you don’t want to worry with coupons, doing the deal with the Luvs diapers would be the easiest bet. No coupons to worry with and still only $4.57 per pack.

Finally, I am going to try to get my hands on one of those $5 off $20 or $5 off $25 coupons that CVS sometimes gives out, since that would help bring down the cost, too. Those can be combined with ExtraCare Buck offers and with manufacturer’s coupons, since they are considered different types of coupons.

Keep in mind that this deal ends Saturday night, so don’t delay! If you have a great diaper savings scenario, please share it with us. Let me know if you decide to do the diaper promo and how it worked out for you! For more deals, check out the CVS flyer here.

Racking Up at CVS!

I bought all 20 items from CVS today for $17.44! Pictured: 2 Arm and Hammer Laundry Detergents, 10 Aussie/Herbal Essence Shampoos, Conditioners, and Products, Kleenex, 36 count Playtex Tampons, Kotex Tampons 18 count, Schick Intuition Women’s Razor, Yardley Soap, Papermate Pens, Gatorade 32 ounce

Drugstore deals can be tedious but the rewards are so extreme that it can be worth it!

So many people don’t know that you can save tons of money by shopping at CVS, Walgreens and Rite Aid. Pre-couponing, I thought drug stores were expensive. Boy was I wrong! If you shop the sales and PLAN your trip, drug stores can net you lots of free items.

I want to demonstrate with CVS because I shopped there this morning. This is an amazing week at CVS, so if you have time, try to get by there today. Their deals end on Saturday nights, so you still have time!

At CVS, I always look through the sales flyer at home before I shop. I scope out items that are on sale and that I also have coupons for. Third and most importantly, I try to find items that offer Extra Care Bucks. Extra Care bucks are rewards money that you can spend at CVS only. After your purchase, they come attached to your receipt and you can redeem them on your next transaction, right away if you choose.

I buy items using coupons and then take the extra care bucks that I just earned to buy more things for free! You can also use coupons along with the extra care bucks to pay even less. Again, it can be complicated but it’s worth it! Let me show you what I did this morning:

I bought:

Schick Intuition Women’s Razor with 4 blades
A box of Kotex Tampons 18 count
Skintimate Shaving Cream
Playtex Tampons 36 count
PaperMate Pens 8 count

I used coupons on all of these items except the pens, and I ended up paying $25.04 including tax. For buying all of these items, I got back $14 in Extra Care Bucks to use inside of CVS. I spent them right away on my second transaction which was the following:

2 Arm and Hammer Laundry Detergents 50 ounces each
10 Herbal Essence and Aussie Shampoos, Conditioners and Mousse
1 Box of Kleenex
1 Bar of Yardley Soap
1 Gatorade 32 ounce

I had 5 coupons for the shampoos, each coupon being for $3 off of two. Since I bought ten I could redeem five coupons, thus saving $15 off. I also had a CVS coupon for $5 off of a $25 purchase, which I could also redeem because it was a CVS coupon and I had certainly spent $5. Finally, I used all of my $14 in Extra Care Bucks towards the final price. So I SAVED $34 on that second order and only paid $2.10 for all of those items!

So, my total out of pocket was $27.14. Not bad for everything I got. But wait…..it gets even better….I earned a ten dollar gas card for buying the shampoo and detergent!

So if you factor in the gas card, you could say I paid $17.14 for everything I got (20 items), less than $1 per item. Considering that I bought some very expensive items (razor, laundry detergent, tampons), I think that’s pretty good!
